The short version
Repair Coach has no accounts, no server of its own, no analytics, and no ads. Everything you write is stored only on your device. The one exception is the optional AI feature: on devices without Apple Intelligence, it sends the text you ask it to improve — and only that text — to Anthropic's Claude API to generate suggestions. We never see it.
Who we are
Repair Coach ("the app," "we," "us") is published by Deep Creek Mill LLC, a Washington limited liability company. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at info@deepcreekmill.com.
What we collect, and where it lives
- Your content — rewrites, debrief reflections, saved practices, streaks, and settings — is stored in the app on your device using Apple's SwiftData. It is never uploaded to us. We do not have a server, so we cannot see, access, or recover it.
- We do not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or home address, and we do not collect device identifiers, location, or usage analytics.
- If you have iCloud device backups turned on, Apple may include Repair Coach's on-device data in your own encrypted Apple backup. That is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not ours, and we have no access to it.
AI suggestions
Repair Coach generates suggestions in one of three ways, chosen automatically by your device:
- Apple Intelligence (on-device). On supported devices, suggestions are generated entirely on your phone. Nothing you type leaves the device.
- Anthropic's Claude API. On devices without Apple Intelligence, the app sends your request over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to Anthropic. The only data sent is the single sentence you ask the app to improve, or the six short answers you enter in a debrief. No chat history, and no other stored content, are sent. The data goes directly from your phone to Anthropic — it does not pass through us.
- Built-in templates (offline). When neither is available, the app uses built-in coaching templates and nothing leaves your device.
About Anthropic
Anthropic processes API requests in the United States. Under its commercial API terms, Anthropic does not use inputs or outputs sent through the API to train its models, and retains them only for a limited period for operational and safety purposes. Anthropic's privacy policy is at anthropic.com/legal/privacy. Because Anthropic is in the U.S., using the Claude engine involves an international transfer of the text you submit if you are outside the U.S.
Sharing
Nothing is ever shared automatically. Text leaves the app only when you explicitly tap Copy or Share, and you choose where it goes. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone, and there are no third-party advertisers or trackers in the app.
Notifications
"I need a pause" reminders are scheduled on your device. No push notification service is involved and no data is sent to schedule them.
Security
Because your content stays on your device, its security is protected by your device's own passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and device encryption. Requests to Anthropic are sent over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Your choices and rights
- All of your data is already on your device. You are free to delete individual entries in History, or delete the app to erase everything it stored on your device.
- On a device that would use Anthropic's Claude API, you can avoid sending any text off-device by not using the AI rewrite and debrief features; the rest of the app still works offline.
- Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK or California), you may have additional rights over your data. Because we hold no personal data about you on any server, there is generally nothing for us to retrieve or erase on our end, but you can contact us at the email above with any request.
Children
Repair Coach is intended for adults and is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 years old to use it. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will ship with the app and be posted here, and the date above will change. Material changes will be noted in the app.
